Having Teeth Whitening in Fairfield Will Help You Smile with Confidence

Are you tired of hiding your smile because of dingy or discolored teeth? If so, you may be a candidate for our cosmetic teeth whitening procedure. The process is affordable, painless, and highly effective at removing common stains from tooth enamel. Call today to schedule a consultation.

What Is Professional Teeth Whitening?

Professional cosmetic teeth whitening, also known as power bleaching, involves using a highly concentrated bleaching gel to lift stains from tooth enamel. The entire process is supervised by a knowledgeable dentist to ensure that it is safe and you are completely satisfied with the results. Unlike do-it-yourself teeth whitening that only lightens teeth by a couple of shades, our professional whitening products penetrate deep into the tooth enamel to provide immediate and dramatic results.

Will Cosmetic Teeth Whitening Correct My Type of Dental Stains?

Cosmetic teeth whitening is used to treat tooth discoloration caused by years of consuming certain foods and beverages and smoking. It is not recommended for the following:

  • Stains caused by tooth decay
  • Discoloration caused by defective fillings
  • Discoloration caused by tetracycline and other medications

Our dentist will carefully examine your teeth before starting treatment to determine the underlying cause of your tooth discoloration and to ensure that cosmetic whitening is right for you. It is important to note that crowns, veneers, and other dental restorations will remain the same color since they are made from materials that are impervious to the bleaching process. You may want to consider replacing your dental restorations if you want them to blend in with your lightened teeth.

Zoom® Teeth Whitening: Whiter Teeth in One Day

Our office in Fairfield is proud to offer Zoom® teeth whitening treatment, which can deliver a smile that’s up to eight shades whiter after just one visit. Zoom is the most requested professional teeth whitening brand in America. It’s also proven to be comfortable for people with sensitive teeth because of its adjustable intensity settings.

Best of all, you can relax in our office while Zoom does all the work.

Our hygienist or dentist first will ensure that you don’t have any cavities or gum disease. Then we’ll assess your current tooth color to determine the duration of your treatment and take impressions of your teeth for custom-made trays. Zoom uses a two-step process of a hydrogen peroxide whitening gel and a special chairside light that enables the gel to penetrate the teeth faster. Treatment consists of three 15-minute sessions for a total time of 45 minutes. In less than an hour, you’ll leave our office with a much-whiter smile.

What Options Do You Have for Teeth Whitening at Home?

Some of our patients prefer the convenience and privacy of whitening their teeth at home. We are proud to offer professional-grade teeth whitening kits that you can use at home. You will need to make an appointment with our dentist so that we can take impressions of your teeth that will be used to custom fit your whitening tray. If you use the professional-strength whitening gel as directed, you may be able to lighten your teeth up to six shades in as little as two weeks.

Is Teeth Whitening in Fairfield Expensive?

Since it is considered a cosmetic procedure, teeth whitening is not covered by most dental insurance plans. Once you and your dentist have decided on a treatment plan, we will provide you with an estimate of your teeth bleaching cost based on the number of treatments necessary to achieve the desired results, the type of system used, and any additional treatments or repairs that may be needed.

How Do Over-the-Counter Teeth Whitening Products Compare to Professional Products?

It is possible to find low-cost teeth whitening options online or at local retail stores and pharmacies. Popular do-it-yourself options include whitening trays, gels, strips, rinses, and toothpastes. These products typically use abrasives or peroxide to lift stains from tooth enamel. Of course, over-the-counter products are not as powerful as the ones we use in our office or offer in our at-home whitening kits, so the results are minimal and temporary. Another drawback is that they can cause gum irritation or uneven results if not used properly. If you want the convenience of whitening your teeth at home, we recommend that you contact us for one of our at-home whitening kits.

How Does a Teeth Bleaching Dentist Whiten My Teeth?

Your dentist will explain the entire teeth whitening process to you before beginning the procedure. Although the exact steps will vary based on which type of whitening system is used, the following will give you an idea of what to expect:

  • We begin by examining and cleaning your teeth. This is to ensure that your teeth are healthy enough for the procedure, reduces the risk of unexpected results, and prepares the teeth by removing surface stains and debris.
  • We will take photos of your teeth so we can determine your baseline tooth shade and monitor the progress of your treatment.
  • The dentist will place a cheek retractor in your mouth in order to see and access your teeth, which is painless.
  • The bleaching gel can irritate or damage sensitive gum tissue, so we will apply a protective liquid to your gums to protect them.
  • The bleaching gel is applied one coat at a time until your teeth are the desired shade. Depending on the particular system used, the dentist may use a special light to activate the gel.
  • After the final coat of gel is removed, the dentist will determine if you should have additional whitening treatments or procedures.
